Renishaw, a world leading manufacturer of co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM) equipment, will be showing its new, improved surface finish measurement probe (SFP2) for use with its REVO 5-axis measurement system on CMMs at EMO Hannover 2017, Germany (18th–23rd September, hall 6, stand B46).
Cutting tool and tooling system specialist Sandvik Coromant has unveiled a new high-feed version of the CoroMill® 745 face milling cutter, featuring a 25° entering angle for additional productivity gains when milling steel and cast iron workpieces. The new high-feed version facilitates even higher metal removal rates (MRR) in applications with depths of cut up to 2.8 mm (0.110 inch). The new cutter is set to benefit sectors such as die and mould, pump and valve, oil and gas, automotive, power generation and general engineering.
Additive manufacturing, the creation of 3-D solid objects by using a series of layered materials, allows the production of complex individual components from various materials like plastic, nickel alloys, titanium, stainless steel and precious metals. However, the surface finish of parts created with additive manufacturing frequently does not meet expectations.
All three are critical to successful metalworking, but often one will predominate. Manufacturers facing parts requiring 90-degree shoulders also know that achieving true 90-degree shoulders and minimizing the scallop or step marks between passes absolutely requires a high-performance cutter.
