TwinCAT Vision – Machine vision easily integrated into automation technology

Automatic detection, traceability and quality control of products are becoming increasingly important tasks across all stages of production. These trends are aided by inexpensive cameras and high-performance computers, which enable the use of image processing technology in more areas than ever before. Image processing has several advantages over visual inspection by humans, especially for quality control purposes. Optical inspection based on image processing can be carried out in a highly repeatable and deterministic manner. Measurements of parts down to the micrometer range, which are almost impossible to perform for humans, can be implemented easily.

Renishaw and RLS exhibited their latest products at SPS Drives and Controls 2017

Renishaw, the global engineering technologies firm, and associate company RLS exhibited their latest solutions and products at the 2017 SPS Drives and Controls trade show from 28—30 November 2017 in the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre, Germany. A range of live demos and static exhibits have shown an array of products including the RESOLUTE™ FS encoder, VIONiC™ digital encoder and the new 2nd generation AksIM™ off-axis rotary encoder. The live demonstrations included a collaborative robot arm, functionally safe DDR motor with a laser safety barrier and Renishaw’s Advanced Diagnostic Tool (ADT) for set-up and calibration.

Renishaw’s pioneering RESOLUTE™ encoder family is now compatible with Yaskawa serial communications protocol

Renishaw’s RESOLUTE absolute optical encoder is now compatible with the Yaskawa serial communications protocol in linear and rotary (angle) encoder formats. This allows RESOLUTE to be used with Yaskawa’s drives and controllers such as the Sigma 7 range of servo-products. Yaskawa equipment is regularly used in electronics assembly, Flat Panel Display (FPD) manufacturing, factory automation and general motion control applications.

Renishaw launches world’s first functionally safe absolute open optical encoder

Renishaw builds on its existing functionally safe (FS) portfolio by introducing the world’s first SIL2 absolute open-optical encoder for both linear and rotary axis applications. The RESOLUTE™ FS encoder system, part of the RESOLUTE series, offers all the benefits of the standard RESOLUTE variant but with FS certification.

LinACE™ absolute InAxis™ linear shaft encoders measure exactly at the point of load

The system has an accuracy of ±5 µm and users can achieve full closed-loop control, significantly improving safety and performance.
