Innovating Production With A Large Smart Machine

Okuma Corporation has developed a large 2-saddle CNC lathe, the SIMUL TURN LU7000EX, for the large, difficult-to-cut parts of heavy industry. The LU7000 EX has a large work envelope that handles super-large diameter, long parts with a maximum turning diameter of ø900 mm and spindle bore diameter of ø560 mm (Optional). It is a 2-Saddle CNC lathe that achieves high productivity, including simultaneous turning with upper and lower turrets and follower rest applications.

Formula 1 and the HFO

haas_f1_featured

Here’s something all Haas customers know: Wherever there’s a Formula One race, there’s almost definitely a Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) nearby. For the 2016 Formula One season, national HFOs, local to many of the 21 circuits around the world, are holding open houses, screening events and race visits, allowing their customers to share in the excitement of Haas F1 Team’s inaugural year.

Automated change of chuck jaws around the clock

SCHUNK has expanded the application range of its SCHUNK PRONTO retrofittable jaw quick-change system: As an alternative to rapid manual jaw change, the system can now also be operated autonomously.

Flexible lightweight maximizes the field of application of milling/turning machines

It is a combination of the proven lathe chuck of the series ROTA-S plus and ROTA-S plus 2.0 with extended guideways, and transforms them into large, light chucks, which are particularly versatile in use. Compared to conventional lathe chucks used for large clamping diameters, the weight with ROTA-S flex drops down to 60%. At an identical…

Jaw change in seconds

The quick-change retrofit set from the competence leader for clamping technology and gripping systems consists of supporting and changing jaws. It is suitable for O.D. clamping of pre-machined and finished parts. Via the selection of the interchangeable insert, the clamping range can be extended by up to 16 mm, without having to re-set the supporting…

Focusing on the replacement of cam-controlled multi-spindle lathes

With the INDEX MS16C of the MultiLine series, the Esslingen multi-spindle specialists present a CNC multi-spindle lathe featuring six spindles for up to 16 mm diameter parts. The six-spindle machine, built from a multi-spindle modular component system, is intended to replace the widely used but costly to set up fast cam-controlled multi-spindle lathes that still dominate…

Universal Turning in a New Dimension

With the IT600, the INDEX Group opens a new chapter in universal turning. Through the use of field-proven components, the flexible IT600 is designed to manufacture medium and small lot sizes up to batch size 1 of mold making, tooling and prototyping considerably faster and more economically than with conventional universal lathes. By the innovative…

MAG presents “Smart Production Systems” at EMO

Similarly, energy and environmental management as well as the careful use of resources play key roles. At EMO, MAG is focusing not only on machines, automation and the manufacturing process, but also on networking of production and supporting equipment using new communication technologies. In Hanover this year, MAG will present new products, technologies and components…
