Process Integration CNC LATHE with Y-Axis

HYUNDAI WIA proudly introduces KL7000LY for large-size shaft processing machine. Capability of heavy-duty cutting and productivity has remarkably enhanced due to the ideal composition of powerful spindle, high rigidity box guideway, and wedge type Y-axis. We are expecting that 24″ and 32″ chuck will make the most usages for oil and gas industries. Besides strong and reliable wedge type Y-axis has an advantage in machining of complex shape.

Smart apps for smartphones – machine tool probe technology at your fingertips

The use of mobile technology – smartphones and tablets – and their associated apps has become firmly established as part of everyday recreational life. Recognising how they can also assist in a multitude of working environments, Renishaw has developed a range of smartphone apps for users of their machine tool probing hardware.

Innovating Production With A Large Smart Machine

Okuma Corporation has developed a large 2-saddle CNC lathe, the SIMUL TURN LU7000EX, for the large, difficult-to-cut parts of heavy industry. The LU7000 EX has a large work envelope that handles super-large diameter, long parts with a maximum turning diameter of ø900 mm and spindle bore diameter of ø560 mm (Optional). It is a 2-Saddle CNC lathe that achieves high productivity, including simultaneous turning with upper and lower turrets and follower rest applications.

FDM Thermoform Tooling: What It Is and Why It Works

Thermoforming is a conventional plastics forming process where heat is used to bring a sheet of plastic to its sagging point, or when it becomes pliable. The heat source is removed and the plastic sheet is positioned onto a mold. A vacuum is then drawn through the mold and the sheet conforms to the surface of that mold.

Ballbar diagnostics aid airframe manufacture

Without periodic checking and maintenance, CNC machine tools can lose positioning accuracy and introduce errors over time. Machining complex, high-value airframe components, BAE Systems turned to a wireless ballbar system to provide the machine tool diagnostics data it needed to maximise quality and productivity.

Negative Machining Angles? Use 3D Manual Feed by Okuma

Okuma America Corporation, a world leading builder of CNC machine tools, shows the advantages of 3D Manual Feed on the OSP-P300M control. This feature enables the same movement as Tool Center Point Control in manual operation when the 3D feed switch is active on the CNC control panel.
