Introducing Autodesk Fusion Production: Applying the Power of the Cloud and IIoT to Make Manufacturing Smarter

The manufacturing industry is experiencing unprecedented change and the convergence of design and manufacturing is creating new opportunities to reduce costs and shorten product lifecycles. Traditional supply chains are being replaced by more flexible supply networks – but only for companies that can adapt to this change. Many still struggle just to keep up with what is happening on their own shop floors. Experts at Autodesk have been working on a thoroughly modern solution that uses the power of the cloud and the Internet of Things to address the new challenge presented by what they like to refer to as the “uberization” of manufacturing.

KUKA machining cell goes cloud

KUKA is taking the next step towards the production of the future. With the fully automated and networked robotic cell with two integrated Heller machining centers, KUKA connects the analog and digital worlds and brings the Internet of Things to life.

Autodesk Accelerates Success with Collaborative Manufacturing Workflows and a New IoT Toolkit

At Accelerate 2017 conference in Boston, Autodesk was showcasing how the Fusion product innovation platform is helping solve manufacturing challenges for a company trying to brighten the future of cancer care with next-generation therapies. Also in the spotlight at the annual event is a new IoT Discovery Toolkit, developed in partnership with Electric Imp, aimed at fast-tracking Internet of Things (IoT) business transformation.

SCHUNK’s Intelligent grippers take over handling, condition monitoring, and parts of operational process management

“Closest-to-the-part” is how SCHUNK describes the exposed position of its grippers in the handling process. SCHUNK uses this advantage to develop intelligent modules that can do much more than conventional pick & place. As “smart gripping” solutions, intelligent grippers such as the SCHUNK EGL Profinet enable autonomous handling scenarios. They measure, identify and monitor gripped components and the ongoing production process in real-time. The information recorded by the gripper is passed on to the machine control system and can be simultaneously transferred to higher-level internal and external systems as well as cloud solutions for statistical process analyses.

MakerBot and Autodesk Tinkercad Connect for Seamless Cloud-based 3D Design and 3D Printing

Now more than ever, educators need intuitive, easy-to-use STEAM learning tools to implement in their classrooms. MakerBot and Autodesk Tinkercad are proud to announce a new connection between Tinkercad, the widely used entry-level 3D design software in education – and MakerBot, the largest connected 3D printing solution for educators. This new collaboration between MakerBot and Autodesk marks the first step in a growing commitment to embed powerful modeling software and 3D printing into the same seamless workflow.
