The laboratory of the future opens up previously unforeseeable new opportunities: higher throughput rates, precisely controlled automation processes, and more intelligent collection and analysis of information. Festo is the host of this year’s ELRIG Meeting, Robotics & Automation, on 28 February 2018.
For many jobs carried out in production, people wish they had a third hand. When doing soldering work, for example, the soldering iron must be held in one hand and the solder wire in the other, leaving no hand free for the workpiece. The BionicCobot developed by Festo can help precisely with such assistance activities and relieve the employee by acting as a “third arm” or “third hand”. It can grip, hold and rotate the workpiece – whatever is required for the relevant application.
The key topic of the Hannover Messe 2017 trade fair, “Integrated Industries, Creating Value”, is concerned with competitive advantage through digitalisation, new business models and added value through intelligent technology, and the networking of humans and machines. Prior to the fair, Festo is introducing the breakthrough innovation “Festo Motion Terminal” along with fascinating future-oriented technologies as part of its Bionic and Future Concepts.
