The new SUPER TURBO-X 3015 Fiber series is the latest generation of Mazak’s highly popular SUPER TURBO-X lasers, which have sold more than 4,000 machines in Europe since 1990. Until now, the SUPER TURBO-X has always been a CO2 laser, but the latest machine utilises fibre laser technology to deliver faster cutting times and lower running costs.
The new SUPER TURBO-X 3015 Fiber is available in both 2kW and 3kW versions and has a significantly smaller footprint than its predecessor CO2 machines and other competitor fibre lasers. The compact machine has a 7,400 x 2,900mm footprint which makes it ideal for sheet metal job shops with limited floorspace.
The fiber laser has a shorter wavelength and higher heat absorption than a CO2 laser. As a result, the SUPER TURBO-X FIBER series performs stable cutting of reflective material such as copper, brass and aluminum, as well as providing higher productivity by its faster cutting capability of thin to medium thickness materials. The fiber laser eliminates the mirrors and other components as required by a CO2 laser by using fiber optics to significantly reduce the cost of maintenance. Typically, laser-users benefit from lower running costs due to a circa 80 per cent reduction in oscillator electrical power consumption and a 100 per cent reduction in laser gas consumption, compared to CO2 lasers.
In terms of cutting performance, the new SUPER TURBO-X 3015 Fiber is capable of significantly faster cutting speeds than its CO2 laser competition, capable of high speed cutting for both thin and mid-thickness materials. The machine is capable of rapid speeds in the X- and Y-axes of 50m/min and 25m/min in the Z-axes along with acceleration of 0.2G for thin sheets, 0.12G for middle thickness sheets and a maximum cutting speed of 50m/min.
The SUPER TURBO-X FIBER series is designed for unsurpassed productivity and higher accuracy cutting. This is realized by many innovative features – including the standard equipment Multi-Control Torch, the variety of Intelligent Functions, the flexible beam diameter and automatic nozzle changing by which the optimum nozzle is automatically selected and changed for each material and thickness.
The new MAZATROL PREVIEW 3 CNC system is designed for ease of operation by its optimum button layout with ergonomic design and 15’’ touch screen with organized screen layout. Additionally, the SUPER TURBO-X FIBER series is also designed for convenient system expansion to a CELL or Mazak’s existing FMS laser automation system to meet increased production requirements after the initial machine installation.
