The new high-end controller is an extension of the highly successful DX100 model with a range of additional options, e.g. safety features, and offers more than 120 application-specific functions. This particularly benefits system integrators and industrial end customers who use Motoman robots for welding and handling tasks.

As one of the world’s most experienced robot manufacturers, Yaskawa has drawn on the many years of experience of its engineers for the new DX200, building on the service-proven quality of the DX100. In this way, all the advantages of the successful predecessor model have been retained. Numerous new functions and function packages have been added, further simplifying the application-specific solution and programming of robotic tasks. Moreover, the new DX200 is being market-launched together with a whole range of new and technically enhanced manipulators.

Other new features include the standard and safety-oriented bus systems and the integrated safety controller. The latter transforms the DX200 into a complete Functional Safety Unit (FSU) that conforms to category 3, PL d, in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1. With up to 32 definable safety zones and the ability to monitor up to 16 tools, it enables smaller working ranges and optimal utilization of the production area. Another advantage is that multiple sub-processes can be carried out simultaneously in the area where the workspaces of the robot and the human operator intersect. The pertinent safety standards are met at all times.

Another new feature of the DX200 is that it has been designed for simplified integration of peripheral devices by means of corresponding bus interfaces. Using the patented Multi-Robot technology, up to eight robots or 72 axes can cooperate in synchronized operation. Since each robot knows the positions of the other robots, the likelihood of a collision is ruled out. This allows the robot density per unit of area to be maximized. Advanced Robot Motion technology (ARM) ensures high performance and availability, path control that is setting new industry standards, and reduced teaching times.

Windows CE programming is carried out using a compact color touch panel weighing just 990 grams. A range of application-specific function packages and more than 120 functions simplify not only programming, but also commissioning for the end customer. Preset application patterns are available for spot and arc welding, for example, as well as for handling and general tasks.

Furthermore, the design has been reworked. The housing and the teach pendant of the DX200 are not only made of particularly resilient materials, they are also designed throughout in colours that are insensitive to dirt.
