EMO debut for new high accuracy Mazak VTC 800 series machine

The VTC 800/30SDR will be taking centre stage in the vertical machining centre zone of Mazak’s stand located in Hall 27 stand number C61. The machine is a simultaneous 5-axis vertical travelling column machining centre designed and built at Mazak’s European manufacturing plant in Worcester, UK, specifically for European customers.

The new SDR variant delivers the ideal solution for the efficient machining of critical components requiring the highest levels of accuracy and exceptional productivity, due to enhanced swarf management enabling extended continuous cutting without stoppage.

Crucial in achieving the highest levels of accuracy is the use of synchronised dual rotary tables which are designed to avoid twist, ensuring consistent shape retention. In addition, cooled ball screws and spindles ensure consistent positioning accuracy.

The VTC 800/30SDR is a high capacity machine with a maximum swing of 820mm ø and a load capacity of 4,000*kg, capable of machining components up to 3,500mm x 820mm. The highest levels of productivity can be guaranteed with a powerful spindle equipped with a maximum speed of 18,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 114Nm.

The new machine also benefits from class-leading rapid traverse feed rates of 50m/min in the X-, Y- and Z-axes, along with 50 rpm in the B-axis and 25 rpm in the optional C-axis. In addition, the VTC 800/30SDR is equipped with a 48 tool magazine with HSK-A63 Interface and is capable of a 4.7 second chip-to-chip** tool change time.

In common with all Mazak machines, the VTC 800/30SDR is equipped with a host of ergonomic features which can benefit machine operators, including high visibility windows, a large working area and easy loading due to the use of a travelling column.

The VTC 800/30SDR can be specified with a choice of either MAZATROL matrix 2 conversational programming or the Siemens SINUMERIK 840D sl CNC, giving additional choice to customers who may have standardised upon Siemens control in their production facilities.
